This simple, easy game is a great way to develop children’s subitising skills and confidence.

In this quick-fire game, children will start to ‘see’ quantities rather than count if their card matches the previous one.

Children need effective tools to sharpen their subitising skills. This game makes learning both fun and educational by helping children recognise numbers in various forms. With forty-eight cards featuring quantities represented by digits, dots, bees, buttons, fingers, flowers, fish, sticks, and seashells, it keeps children engaged and enhances their numerical understanding.

Aligned with the EYFS curriculum, this game supports early years mathematics by encouraging activities that involve quick recognition of numbers and arrangements. It promotes subitising, allowing children to ‘see’ quantities without counting. The game also incorporates activities requiring quickly revealing and hiding numbers of objects, further aiding in developing quick recognition skills.
Teachers can challenge children with creating their own subitising patterns, adding versatility to the learning experience. This game is a valuable addition to any early years maths toolkit.
